Fuji Photo Film announced the popular type digital still camera “Fujifilm Digital Camera DS-7”. Release is scheduled for July.
The body with LCD, operation method of each part, macro shooting function, etc. are made with the Casio QV series in mind, but it is superior in terms of high image quality of 640 x 480 dots and interchangeable storage medium. The body is just one size larger than the QV-10 (see photo, QV10 below).
However, the estimated price of 70,000 to 80,000 yen, and the price setting that the PC connection kit is sold separately, seems to be more expensive than another rival Epson Colorio (69,800 yen), so I would like to request a reexamination.
At the table, the company estimates that the digital still camera market will be about 500,000 units this year, and announced that it would like to secure a 30% share of the company’s products.
[Main functions of DS-7]
- High image quality design of 640 x 480 dots (320 x 240 dots in eco mode)
- CCD is a square pixel, primary color type. Sensitivity set to ISO100 equivalent
- Adopted SSFDC as the storage medium (first practical use). Initially, you can shoot 39 standard shots with 2MB capacity and 78 shots in eco mode. Aim for media price of around 5,000 yen
- Compact body with width 129 x height 77 x depth 47 (mm), 220-230 g
- Equipped with a 1.8-inch LCD monitor. Also works as a viewfinder when shooting
- Three types of output: RS-232C, video output, and PCMCIA (SSFDC is inserted into the PC card adapter) (RS-232C interface kit sold separately, Macintosh / Windows will be sold separately)
- Power supply is 4 AA batteries (alkaline or lithium) or AC adapter (sold separately). Can be played continuously for 40 minutes with AA alkali
- Equipped with a wide-angle lens equivalent to 36mm when converted to a 35mm film camera
- Focusing is a 3-step zone focus. Can shoot from 9 cm macro to infinity
- Auto white balance
- The continuous shooting interval is currently 8 to 9 seconds, but it is under development to further shorten it.
- No strobe is installed
